There are places that possess something magical, places that unconsciously linger in the heart because of that dazzling brightness that carries the mind and our thoughts far away. It is the light favored by artists, who channel emotions, meanings, and anxieties into their works. Giuseppe Modica, in his recent exhibition *Universo Blu* at Capo Orlando Marina, explores the Mediterranean as a memory of places, light, and color, a color that blends into the luminosity of that blue associated with metaphysical concepts, with the Aeolian Islands as a backdrop. St. Tropez, bathed in the white light of the horizon and the foaming waves so beloved by Henry Matisse and Van Gogh, brings to life the legend of the Voiles, which is repeated every year as summer draws to a close, with the first light of autumn. St. Moritz, too, with its elegant buildings in the heart of the Engadine, is bathed in that white light, as seen in the artworks of Segantini those Alpine paintings that convey the symbolism of life’s metaphor. Light, water, glass, and liquid gold come together in the artworks of Fabrizio Plessi, whose video installations tell a story of life’s transience. Going beyond to capture sensations, metaphors, and thoughts, in a world that no longer allows us to observe, where the appearance of a place beyond the horizon creates a vision straddling the real and the imaginary one that takes shape and gives form to a distance that carries us far away.
