Campeggiano nella passeggiata a mare del marina, le cinque stele in marmo alte due metri e mezzo, “Bladelight Concert”, ovvero lame di luce realizzate dall’artista Gioni David Parra.
“Bladelight Concert” di Gioni David Parra, realizzate in esclusiva per Porto Rotondo, sono lame di luce scolpite nel marmo e granito, adagiate su lastre in ferro, dipinte nei colori verde mare, azzurro cielo e l’oro del sole e ancorate su una base di travertino o marmo bianco di Carrara trovando la loro collocazione naturale nel territorio dei Dolmen e dei Menhir. La sfida più interessante per l’artista, che vive a Viareggio e lavora a Pietrasanta, è quella di prendere un elemento millenario come la pietra e rinnovarlo per renderlo contemporaneo, cerca di portare la pietra verso la leggerezza, di renderla più eterea e spirituale possibile. Parra viene considerato uno scultore concettuale, creativo, che usa la manualità con una tensione verso la luce. «Le sue Lame di luce sono elementi lineari, spade spirituali come quelle che ritroviamo nel dipinto di San Paolo del Masaccio nel Museo San Matteo a Pisa, e dove il Santo ha in mano una spada e nell’altra un libro sacro. Sono elementi ascendenti e discendenti con interventi mirati in foglia oro, che richiamano i fondi oro toscani del ’300 e ’400». L’arte secondo Parra è un contenitore di memorie, perché solo attraverso la memoria possiamo incamminarci verso un rinnovamento.

Così le sue “Bladelight” si fanno corpo evocando antiche stele. Siamo di fronte a una scultura vissuta come un corpo a corpo nella complessità di un sistema nervoso che tende i propri archi tra cielo e mare.

Standing on the marina’s seafront promenade, the five high marble swords of 2,5 meters,“Bladelight Concert” if blades of light created by the artist Gioni David Parra.
“Bladelight Concert” by Gioni David Parra, created exclusively for Porto Rotondo, are blades of light sculpted in marble and granite, set on iron slabs, painted in sea green, sky blue and the gold of the sun and anchored on a base of travertine or white Carrara marble finding their natural setting in the territory of the Dolmens and Menhirs. The most interesting challenge for the artist, who lives in Viareggio and works in Pietrasanta, is to take a millenary element such as stone and renew it to make it contemporary. He tries to bring the stone towards lightness, to make it as ethereal and spiritual as possible. Parra is considered a conceptual, creative sculptor, who uses manuality with a tension towards light. “His Blades of Light are linear elements, spiritual swords like those found in the painting of St Paul by Masaccio in the Museo San Matteo in Pisa, where the saint has a sword in one hand and a holy book in the other. They are elements ascending and descending with targeted gold leaf interventions, which recall the Tuscan gold backgrounds of the 14th and 15th centuries’. Art according to Parra is a container of memories, because only through memory we can journey towards renewal.
Thus his ‘Bladelight’ becomes a body evoking ancient swords. We are faced with a sculpture experienced as a melee in the complexity of a nervous system that stretches its arches between sky and sea.
